Visiting Museums & Monuments

Art, archeology, history, literature... Find out how to make the most of the museums using discount tickets and vouchers.

The Green Card (Targeta Verde) allows members discounts and special offices at over 1,000 participating restaurants, bars, museums, art galleries, golf courses, water parks and shops. Members also benefit from the free use of bicycles and binoculars in natural parks and from reduced fares on public transport and parking.

The Foundation for Sustainable Development developed the Green Card with aim of financing various initiatives to preserve the cultural and natural heritage of the Balearic Islands.

There are two types of card: one for tourists and one for residents. 

Tourist Card

The tourist card must be activated by telephone or online.

The Green card is valid for 15 days. It can be bought from hotels, airlines, tourist offices, car rental offices and affiliated companies. The card also includes 15 minutes of free phone calls and a selection of maps and guides.

Residents Card

The Green Card for residents is valid for one year. There are three different cards available; for individuals, families or businesses. The card is already activated upon reception and is available either online or by telephone.

Museums in the Balearics

There are a great number of museums in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Opening hours can vary and are best checked with the local tourist office. Here are just a few:

  • Mallorca Museum (Museu de Mallorca)
    The museum has exhibitions covering the island's history, art and architecture

  • Pilar I Joan Miró Foundation (Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró)
    Houses a permanent collection of Miró's art works as well as temporary exhibitions of other artists. The original studio with some of Miró's unfinished paintings can also be visited

  • Menorca Museum (Museu de Menorca)
    The museum is situated in the old Franciscan convent (Eglésia de Sant Francesc) and has a collection tracing the evolution and customs of Menorca's history
